Quincy Family Fun 2021
/BCNC brought Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya’s We Are More, a public art campaign that celebrates the resilience and diversity of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, to Quincy. The campaign gives the AAPI community a powerful voice, responding to the stereotyping, harassment, and violence that has become increasingly severe amidst COVID-19. Thanks to the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, we joined the Quincy Farmers Market on Friday, June 18th. We passed out information about services in Quincy, as well as prizes for children and art activities from Pao Arts Center. Several adult students and volunteers came by to support. BCNC CEO Ben Hires joined Mayor Thomas Koch and others in the ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate the farmers market’s new location in Kilroy Square.

On Saturday, June 26th, we returned to Quincy for BCNC’s Quincy Summer Family 5K & 1 Mile virtual race, hosted by Bamboo Circle, our young professionals network. Thanks to generous donors, we raised over $2,800 towards youth leadership and college access services, adult English classes and workforce initiatives, and family services. We’d like to give special thanks to race director Jon Eng, the Quincy Leadership Council, Tim Cahill, and the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.

In Quincy, 30% of residents are Asian. After noticing 20% of BCNC participants were commuting from Quincy to receive services, we launched BCNC Quincy. Since then, BCNC Quincy has become the #1 ranked adult education program in the South Shore and has served hundreds of youths, adults, and families with critical services.
Thank you to our sponsors and partners:
