Support Team BCNC at the 129th Boston Marathon

BCNC is excited to announce our new cohort of runners to represent us in the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America. All three runners have a strong connection to the immigrant community in Boston, past and present. Each and everyone of them bring their diverse backgrounds and commitment to support the Asian and immigrant families. Words cannot express how thankful we are to them.

Each runner aims to raise at least $10,000 throughout their training and competition. Their donation campaigns are live and welcome your gifts from now until Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. Dive into their inspiring stories, get to know these remarkable individuals, and extend your support.

Dan Guan

Meet Dan, a Brand Marketing Manager at Google. A Boston native for over 20 years, Dan started volunteering at Pao Arts Center when he was a student at Boston University. Dan has been running since 2018 and has so far completed 5 Abbott World Major Marathons.

BCNC was a crucial resource for my family in providing ESL classes and support services when they immigrated to the US in the 1980s. Witnessing BCNC’s platform for Asian American voices had a profound impact, empowering me to embrace my own identity. Fast forward seven years later (and six marathons later), I'm excited to have the opportunity to give back to this community that has given me so much,” Dan shares.

Dan plans to have some udon and tempura the night before the Boston Marathon to load up on his carbohydrates. Stay tuned for a comedy show featuring Dan the weekend before the marathon.

Grace Berg

Meet Grace, a compliance specialist at Deloitte. We were lucky to meet Grace at BCNC’s Quincy Family Fun Run in October. As a past college D3 rower, Grace definitely has the athletic experience and grit to be successful at her first marathon.

I am running for BCNC because as a Chinese-American adoptee, I am always looking for more ways to connect to my culture and heritage. By becoming more involved with BCNC, I hope to gain a greater sense of community,” Grace shares.

Grace’s dream running destination is at a beach in Hawaii so that she can jump right in the water and swim after her run. Hope we can get Grace to Hawaii after the Boston Marathon.

Hannah Say

Hannah first discovered BCNC while she was a college student at Boston College. Currently the Chief of Staff at Thingtesting, Hannah now works from all over the world. Her dream to run the Boston Marathon has finally come true after witnessing Marathon Monday at Boston College way back in 2015.

As a first-generation immigrant from the Philippines myself, born to a family of first-generation Chinese immigrants, I understand intimately the challenges and sacrifices that first-gen families face when starting a new life in a foreign country. I am beyond proud to give back to my community and pay it forward,” Hannah shares.

Hannah says she will never buy a T-shirt at a race expo the day before that says “Finisher” on it.
